Jonny Haworth has left his role as Director of Commercial Partnerships at Formula 1, Sector has learned.

Having been appointed in October 2022, Haworth helped oversee a period of commercial expansion for the sport, with more brands and partners entering F1.

Haworth previously worked for Warner Bros. Discovery, where he headed the commercial department for golf, before making the switch to F1, with earlier roles at the PGA Tour, Manchester United and IMG. At F1, he worked under Chief Commercial Officer Emily Prazer.

Sector understands Haworth’s departure was his own decision, to allow him to spend more time with his young family.

During his time at F1, Haworth played a part in partnerships spanning Marsh, American Express, Globant, KitKat and PepsiCo’s wider portfolio, alongside luxury names including Louis Vuitton, as the sport pushed further into categories beyond traditional motorsport sponsorship.

Earlier this year, Haworth was instrumental in F1’s betting strategy, striking a deal with ALT Sports Data to supply real-time predictive data to regulated bookmakers, and leading the agreement that made Betway F1’s first Official Betting Partner. He had identified F1 as representing just 0.4 per cent of global betting handle despite the sport’s size, and favoured an editorially led approach to betting content over a standalone F1 betting product.

He was also featured on the inaugural Sector50 – a list of the 50 individuals who have had a defining impact on the commercial side of the sport over the past twelve months.

Haworth was the first guest on Sector’s “The Business of F1” podcast, which you can watch here and listen to below.
