Disney and Formula 1 have unveiled a Mickey Mouse-themed racing helmet as part of a new charity collaboration with Make-A-Wish.

The helmet was designed by Bret Iwan, the official voice of Mickey Mouse, working alongside Bobby Kim, Global Creative Director at Disney Consumer Products.

It was produced with Bell Racing and combines a matte black base with Mickey Mouse artwork, F1 branding and a Make-A-Wish star worked into the design.

The majority of drivers signed the helmet across the Pirelli British Grand Prix weekend – including Pierre Gasly, who serves as a Make-A-Wish France ambassador – giving the initiative a genuine personal connection within the grid rather than a purely commercial tie-in.

Under the hammer

The helmet goes to auction through F1 Authentics, operated under license by Memento Exclusives.

Registration opened on 7 July, with bidding running from 11 to 18 July. Net proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish International, supporting wishes for children and families outside the United States.

Memento Exclusives has built a growing footprint across F1’s licensing and collectibles business this year, with F1 Authentics operating as its platform for official memorabilia auctions tied to race weekends and driver milestones.

A second helmet, built to the same design, will go on public display at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California, from 14 to 16 August, rather than going to auction.

Splitting the two helmets across an auction and a fan showcase gives the project two separate moments of visibility several weeks apart, rather than a single announcement.

The wider Disney x F1 project

The helmet project sits within Disney’s “Fuel the Magic” campaign with F1.

Launched at the Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix last year, the partnership has expanded through this season to include merchandise ranges, character costume appearances and retail activations at race weekends, including a dedicated Silverstone takeover experience for 2026.

The partnership marks a continued deepening of Disney’s presence in F1’s commercial ecosystem, following its entry into the sport’s global partner roster.

Long-term supporters

The charity element draws on ties that run well beyond F1.

Disney and Make-A-Wish’s relationship dates back more than 45 years, to the first official wish granted at Disneyland, and has since helped grant more than 175,000 wishes globally.

Gasly’s involvement as a Make-A-Wish France ambassador connects that history directly to the current F1 grid, positioning the helmet auction as an extension of an existing relationship rather than a one-off activation built solely around race week.
