The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team has appointed Bradley Lord as Deputy Team Principal, strengthening its senior leadership structure alongside Team Principal and Chief Executive Officer Toto Wolff.

The change reflects an evolution in how responsibilities are distributed across the organisation, with the team aligning its structure more closely with models seen elsewhere on the grid as Formula 1 operations continue to expand.

Lord has been a long-standing figure within Mercedes, most recently serving as Team Representative and previously its Head of Communications.

His promotion formalises a position that has effectively been operating in practice, with Lord already working closely alongside Wolff and the wider leadership group.

“With the growth of our team and F1, the scope of our operations and associated responsibilities at a senior level has grown significantly,” said Wolff.

“We have therefore taken this opportunity to put in place a change that has effectively been operating in practice for some time.”

Wolff added that his role and responsibilities would remain unchanged, with Lord’s appointment intended to enhance the capability of the leadership group and provide additional support at team principal level.

The decision highlights how leading teams are increasingly adopting broader executive structures as F1 expands commercially and operationally, with senior roles evolving beyond traditional race-focused responsibilities.
