Craig Skinner, who has served as Chief Designer at Oracle Red Bull Racing, has left the team after a 20-year spell that saw him rise from a CFD engineer to one of the senior technical figures within the organisation.

Red Bull confirmed Skinner’s departure, effective immediately, with the Milton Keynes team thanking him for his long service. Skinner joined the squad in 2006 and worked closely with key figures in the organisation’s design department, moving into the Chief Designer role in 2022.

Over the past two decades, Skinner contributed to multiple championship-winning cars during Red Bull’s most successful era, including seasons in which the team dominated the Constructors’ and Drivers’ titles.

An engineering graduate from the University of Glasgow, Skinner began his career at Red Bull as a computational fluid dynamics engineer before progressing to senior roles within the aerodynamics division, ultimately overseeing car design and aerodynamic integration in his chief designer capacity.

While the team has not announced his replacement, the timing of Skinner’s exit – coming on the eve of the second pre-season test in Bahrain – ensures questions about Red Bull’s technical continuity will be a talking point in the paddock.

As the team prepares for a new campaign with its first in-house power unit and fresh regulatory constraints, Red Bull’s technical leadership structure will be in sharper focus.
