Formula 1 has extended its broadcast partnership with ESPN across 18 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean through to the end of the 2028 season.

The renewed agreement, which begins ahead of the season-opening Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, will deliver every practice and qualifying session, Sprint, grand prix and full analysis programming across ESPN’s linear and digital platforms.

The deal also includes coverage of Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 Academy and the Porsche Supercup.

Fans in the region will be able to watch via ESPN’s television networks, its OTT platform Disney+, ESPN Premium in Chile and Fox Sports networks in Argentina.

The extension comes as F1 continues to rebalance its global media rights portfolio. In the United States, ESPN held the sport’s broadcast rights until the end of 2025 before Apple took over from the 2026 season under a new agreement, marking a shift toward streaming-led distribution in F1’s largest commercial market.

By contrast, the LATAM renewal reflects continuity in a region where F1 reports strong growth.

The sport now claims more than 150 million fans across Latin America and the Caribbean, up 5% year-on-year, with 45% of that audience female and 43% under the age of 35.

The region also maintains a visible on-track presence. Across F1, F2 and F3, 15 drivers represent countries from Latin America, including Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto and returning Mexican Sergio Prrez.

Argentina has experienced a surge in interest driven by Franco Colapinto’s deal at Alpine, with F1 now reported as the country’s most popular global sports league.

Ian Holmes, Chief Media Rights and Broadcasting Officer at F1, said the partnership ensures consistent coverage during a period of regulatory change.

“ESPN has been a trusted broadcast partner for many years, so we are excited to continue our collaboration, and take our sport to even more fans as we witness incredible growth across Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Ian Holmes, F1’s Chief Media Rights and Broadcasting Officer.

“We look forward to working with them into 2026 as the next generation of regulations come into force, which will shake up the competition and create huge excitement and drama.”

The agreement secures broadcast stability in a region where F1 continues to grow its audience footprint, even as the championship explores new distribution models in other key markets.

“The extension of this agreement with Formula 1 strengthens a strategic alliance that reinforces ESPN’s commitment to excellence in sports content,” said ESPN Vice President of Programming and Acquisitions, Michael Walters.

“Through comprehensive, multiplatform coverage, we will continue bringing the passionate audiences of Spanish-speaking South America, Central America, and the Caribbean the highest level of international motorsport.”
