Home favourite Gabriel Bortoleto has helped the FIA launch school initiatives in Brazil, highlighting the importance of road safety.

The Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber driver is from Sao Paulo, and ahead of the 21st round of the 2025 Formula 1 world championship this weekend he was on hand to promote the new schemes.

Bortoleto took time out to support projects from the FIA, Brazilian Federal Government and the country’s automobile association.

The government is developing a programme to improve road safety in school zones by introducing a guide that will be available across the country.

Meanwhile, the ‘Safe Way to School’ project will set out to identify risks to children making their journeys to school and promote the installation of measures such as safe crossings, traffic calming, and reduced speed limits.

“As a driver, I know how important it is to be safe on the track, but safety is just as important on the streets, especially for children heading to school,” said Bortoleto, who is enjoying an impressive rookie season in F1.

“I am proud to support the ‘Safe Way to School’ project and to help raise awareness about measures that can make every journey safer. Together, we can ensure that children in Brazil can travel with confidence.”
