The McLaren Formula 1 Team has taken steps to preserve its rich history by announcing a partnership with information management service Iron Mountain.
Iron Mountain’s digital solutions, powered by artificial intelligence, will allow McLaren to digitise its past and streamline its IT systems heading into the future.
The newly crowned 2026 Formula 1 Constructors’ Champions announced the collaboration ahead of the MSC Cruises United States Grand Prix, where its cars will carry Iron Mountain branding for the first time.
The partnership will see Iron Mountain transform thousands of hours of vintage McLaren film stock into digital content for use in modern retellings of its history, using secure, museum-grade preservation techniques.
The company will harness its AI tools to generate insights from data, while blueprints and photography will also be digitised as part of the multi-year deal.

Nick Martin, Co-Chief Commercial Officer at McLaren Racing, expressed his enthusiasm: “Our fans are at the centre of what we do, and we are passionate about sharing our storied past with them.
“With the integration of Iron Mountain, we will be able to bring to life more of the team’s rich history for our fans and partners as we look to shine a light on the McLaren Racing brand.”
Footage and imagery featuring world champions such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, and Niki Lauda is expected to be given the AI treatment by Iron Mountain.
“We are proud to partner with the McLaren Formula 1 Team, which embodies the spirit of innovation and high performance,” said Greg McIntosh, Iron Mountain’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.
“Our AI-enabled digitisation solutions will help fuel new opportunities for success and transform McLaren Racing’s iconic heritage media – protecting these timeless assets for future generations, connecting them to fans and partners, and activating them to unlock value like never before.”
