Mexican Formula 1 fans will be able to watch their home grand prix on free-to-air television from this season after the sport agreed a deal with Grupo Televisa.
The world’s leading Spanish-language content company has signed up as a new Official Broadcast Partner for F1 in Mexico until 2028.
While the sport has been available in Mexico via Sky Sports, the deal with Grupo Televisa will see three races a season broadcast on the company’s free-to-air channels.
The Mexico City Grand Prix will be one of the three weekends with the other two yet to be confirmed, but the timely announcement means fans will be able to see this season’s race at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on October 26 without the need for a subscription.

“We are proud to announce that Formula 1, one of the fastest growing and most passionate sports spectacles in Mexico and worldwide, will be broadcast in its entirety through various multiplatform windows across both free and pay television,” said TelevisaUnivision’s President of Global Sports, Olek Loewenstein.
“We thank Formula 1 for allowing us to be, for more than three years, the official home of all its Grands Prix in Mexico and for bringing our audiences the thrill of this world-class sporting event.”
Fans who use the F1TV offerings in Mexico can still access races using the sport’s own platform, but for Ian Holmes, F1’s Chief Media Rights and Broadcasting Officer, the new deal comes at a great time for the country.
“The Mexican people are hugely passionate about Formula 1, so it’s critical for us to have an excellent broadcast partner in the country to ensure our fans are receiving the very best coverage of our sport,” he said.
“Televisa’s commitment and coverage will be second to none across Mexico and the move to them couldn’t be better timed, with the US Grand Prix in Austin this coming weekend, followed by the home race in Mexico City, where we know the drivers and teams will receive an incredible, warm welcome.”
