Having made her name interviewing celebrities in fried chicken shops for her YouTube channel, Amelia Dimoldenberg has now signed a deal with Formula 1 to create content alongside the sport.
A four-part series, also streamed on YouTube, will see Dimoldenberg learn to drive with the help of a number of current F1 drivers.
A collaboration between F1 and Dimz Inc. – Dimonldenberg’s own production company – and titled ‘Passenger Princess’, the four episodes will follow the 31-year-old as she is put through her paces in the quest to get her driving licence.
Filmed during the Moët & Chandon Belgian Grand Prix weekend, Dimoldenberg is assisted by George Russell, Oscar Piastri, Oliver Bearman, and Carlos Sainz, with the star of ‘Chicken Shop Date’ set a series of tasks to complete.
“My dream has always been to tell stories and work with great collaborators, so I’m proud to be working with such an iconic and recognised brand as F1 on this latest original series,” said Dimoldenberg, whose YouTube channel boasts over 3.2million subscribers.
“Although I don’t know how to drive. I’m excited to put my well-established passenger – and interviewing – skills to good use.”
Dimoldenberg recently celebrated 10 years of her ‘Chicken Shop Date’ series, which originally launched as a column written for ‘The Cut’ magazine before launching on YouTube after its initial success.
McLaren F1 Team title hopeful Lando Norris appeared on the series in March 2024 and, in an episode that has since amassed over 4.4million views, Dimoldenberg pitched to him the idea of becoming a “passenger princess”.
The move by F1 continues its push to capture and retain a younger audience, following on from Netflix’s docuseries ‘Drive to Survive’ and ‘F1: The Movie’, which broke box office records this summer.
“This collaboration with Dimz Inc. marks the latest partnership from Formula 1 to engage with its rapidly growing demographic of young fans,” explained Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer of Formula 1.
“Passenger Princess will combine Amelia’s wit and charm with the drama and excitement of Formula 1 at one of the sport’s most iconic circuits. We can’t wait for fans to see it.”
Sharing a preview on her social media account, Dimoldenberg announced the first episode would be available to watch on her YouTube channel from Wednesday, October 15.
